To celebrate ten years of Bon Iver, Bon Iver I decided to remix its ten tracks over ten days. The point of this was not to put the songs in another genre but to recycle and highlight parts that were sometimes hidden within the arrangement. To avoid bastardising such an incredible record I exclusively used sounds that were already in the stems and relied solely on EQ and chopping to create these arrangements which in turn meant that some of my favourite parts of the record had to be omitted due to the state of the stems being unusable to me e.g. drums being bounced with vocals. That said, I found new favourite parts in things that did not make it to the final record such as alternative performances, melodies or lyrics and hopefully you find the same.
Ten years ago today Calgary was released as a single three days before the full album and in that same essence, here is my version of Calgary.
